Job Description:  

Role Purpose

Responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of all telecommunication systems and activities within customer environment while also working towards establishing and managing of related projects in the area to meet the business needs of the organisation.


  1. Ensure the reliability and integrity of the telecommunication equipment and systems by application of approved standards, procedures and schedules and effects control within an ISO certified quality assurance system.

  2. Manage and coordinate IT infrastructure, Telecom activities including Telecoms Shutdown activities, inventory management and Authorize Engineer role for telecoms works.

  3. Control approved projects across all stages from initiation through scope of work, CPL and/or Tender Board (TB) Tendering processes, implementation and handover.

  4. Provide needed end-user's support services including telephone/IPT, radios, Plant CCTV, Pager, Security systems(access Control, CCTV, PID and intercom), PAGA, FOCN, Master Clock systems, Emergency Control center on site and all other customer locations

  5. Co-ordinate and supervise external contractor and specialist vendor support.

  6. Co-ordinate with government authorities regarding telecommunication issues and maintain excellent relations.

  7. Develop specific procedures, work instructions, work plans, inspection and testing schedules within the maintenance management system.

  8. Responsible for TRA licenses, external/inter contractor's coordination support, SLAs and hazardous area inspector for telecom equipment.

  9. Access and report against tasks within the electronic maintenance management system (Pacer).

  10. Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with complex HSE policy and procedures.

  11. Supervise quality of work done by technician and contractors and advice technician and contractors on technical matters.

  12. Coach and develop the staff to ensure the minimum competency levels are met or exceeded by a yearly review of their training needs, on the job exposure, cross postings, preparation of a personal development plan and regular feedback sessions including mid-year and final year appraisal.


  1. Providing 24x7 support for the facilities.

  2. Ensuring no production loss, plant trip or quality non-conformance as a result of tasks performed.

  3. Keeping abreast of latest equipment and advancements in the field and bringing in the necessary upgrades

  4. Work requires high HSE understanding as well as working in hazardous environments.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, and working conditions

Qualifications AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Communication or related Engineering Science

  • Minimum 8 years in the telecommunication industry of which minimum 3 years as a senior maintenance technician or supervisor in telecommunication

  • Office based role with base location as Sur

  • 5/2 work pattern
